Red Cedar River Clean-up

08/29/2020 09:00 AM - 01:00 PM ET

Description

A lot of work is going into making the Red Cedar River navigable between Williamston and Okemos. The Ingham Conservation District is spearheading a cleanup on August 29 at 9 am till 1 pm to make sure this newly opened stretch of river is free of trash and debris. Michigan United Conservation Clubs On the Water program will be providing many of the supplies for the event as well as lunch for volunteers. Rivertown Adventure will be providing kayaks and canoes. We appreciate the support of the City of Williamston for letting us gather at McCormick Park and for the support of our many partners including the newly formed Friends of the Red Cedar group. COVID-19 may impact how this event unfolds. A logistics email will be sent out a few days prior to registering for the event with more day-of details.

Volunteers will receive a ceramic camp mug and stickers to take home at the end of the event! Personal protective gear(such as gloves), buckets, trash bags, sunscreen, bug spray, trash grabbers and waders will be provided on a first come first serve basis. There will be a water station so please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle!

Volunteers are encouraged to abide by the current guidelines established by the CDC and the State of Michigan when it comes to addressing COVID-19. Please remember to remain safe, practice good hygiene and social distancing. By registering for this event you acknowledge the potential risks of contracting COVID-19.

All are welcome to join us for a great day of volunteering to help improve your local habitat. Please contact Emma Nehan at enehan@mucc.org if you have any questions.
