Ice Storm Relief in Wildlife Openings and Trails in Grayling Forest Management Unit (Oscoda County)

08/09/2025 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET

Description

About the project: On Saturday, August 9, 2025, MUCC's On the Ground program will partner with the Michigan DNR and Ruffed Grouse Society to remove woody debris leftover from the 2025 ice storm damage in a wildlife opening of the Grayling Forest Management Unit. The event will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Attendees will gather to sign in at the orange gate on the west side of Townline Road, 4.3 miles north of Miller Road. Volunteers will work together to remove fallen debris from the wildlife opening to allow for future management, improving the area for species like ruffed grouse and hunter access. While much of the damage within State Parks has been cleared, many wildlife openings and trails remain inaccessible.

Meeting location/coordinates: Volunteers will meet at the orange gate on the west side of Townline Road, 0.4 miles north of Farrington, Lewiston, MI
