Mast-Producing Tree Planting at Port Huron State Game Area (St. Clair County)

05/10/2025 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET

Description

About the project: Join MUCC's On the Ground program in partnership with the Michigan DNR for a mast-producing tree planting on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The goal of the project is to improve habitat by planting mast-producing trees that will provide forage and cover for a variety of wildlife species.

Meeting location: Volunteers will meet at the Kingsley Metcalf Loop Trail parking lot on Kingsley Rd.

What to bring: Bring your work gloves if you have them and your enthusiasm for improving wildlife habitats! Shovels, work gloves, and all other necessary equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This project will take place rain or shine unless there is severe weather so please dress accordingly. Be prepared to work outside for a minimum of three hours. MUCC will provide lunch to all registered volunteers and a volunteer appreciation gift. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to reduce waste, but plastic water bottles will be available throughout the day. Snacks will also be provided.

Registration closes on May 9 at 2:00 PM. In addition to registering, please fill out this MUCC digital volunteer waiver AND the Department of Natural Resources volunteer waiver individually for each person in your party. Individuals under 18 can have a parent or guardian sign for them. If you need to register or cancel after this date/time, please email MUCC's Habitat Program and Partnerships Coordinator Olivia Triltsch at otriltsch@mucc.org so the lunch order can be updated.
