2025 Jack Pine Planting Day (Crawford County)

About the project: Join MUCC's On the Ground, the Kirtland’s Warbler Alliance, and Huron Pines for the 2025 Jack Pine Planting Day on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The goal of the project is to improve and enhance Kirtland’s warbler habitat by planting jack pine trees in the Grayling Forest Management Unit.
Meeting location: Volunteers will meet on Smoore Rd between Goose Creek Rd and Jack Pine Rd, west of Grayling, MI.

What to bring: Bring your work gloves if you have them and your enthusiasm for improving wildlife habitats! Dibble bars, work gloves, and all other necessary equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This project will take place rain or shine unless there is severe weather so please dress accordingly. Be prepared to work outside for a minimum of three hours. MUCC will provide lunch to all registered volunteers and a volunteer appreciation gift. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to reduce waste, but plastic water bottles will be available throughout the day.
Registration closes on May 2 at 2:00 PM. To speed up sign-in during the event, please fill out this MUCC digital volunteer waiver AND the Department of Natural Resources volunteer waiver individually for each person in your party. Individuals under 18 can have a parent or guardian sign for them. If you need to register or cancel after this date/time, please email MUCC's Habitat Program and Partnerships Coordinator Olivia Triltsch at otriltsch@mucc.org so the lunch order can be updated.
