Description

MUCC Conservation Cohort Two-Day Training

When: June 3-4, 2025

Where: MUCC Lansing Headquarters: 2101 Wood St, Lansing, MI 48912

MUCC Michigan Out-of-Doors Youth Camp: 2500 Pierce Rd, Chelsea, MI 48118

Training Overview: We envision two days of training young professionals on what being a conservation professional is all about. The rough outline for this training includes one day in Lansing and one day in Chelsea. The first day will be focused on learning about MUCC and our grassroots processes at the Lansing headquarters. We will also tour the Michigan State Capitol building and meet with elected officials or their staffers, then travel down to MUCC’s Michigan Out-of-Doors Camp in Chelsea. The second day will be focused on learning about natural resources and conservation careers in Michigan, then we will participate in a camp project afterward. We will have a variety of MUCC staff leading these sessions and guest speakers from national and statewide organizations.  We will host everyone at our camp and be able to cover meals for both days. Housing will be available in cabins at our camp or people can hammock/tent if they prefer. The trip to Lansing would be a day trip and then the rest of the time we would be at our camp in Chelsea.

Guest Speakers: The guest speakers for this training are as follows:

  • Jen Davis - R3 Coordinator, National Wild Turkey Federation
  • Mike Drexler - Conservation Officer, Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division
  • Paige Filice - Natural Resource Educator, MSU Extension
  • Deb Montgomery -
