About the project: Join MUCC's OTG program at Gourdneck State Game Area (SGA) in Kalamazoo County in partnership with the Michigan DNR and the City of Portage Parks and Recreation in removing woody invasives like glossy buckthorn to make room for native plants to grow. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9 A.M. - 12 P.M. Lunch, gear, and volunteer gifts will be provided. Restrooms will be available at the project site.

Meeting location: Volunteers will meet at the Hampton Lake Trail entrance off Centre Avenue.

What to bring: Bring your work gloves if you have them and enthusiasm. Closed-toe, waterproof footwear is recommended; waders or waterproof pants are also suggested. Be prepared to work outside for a minimum of three hours. Lunch, Port-A-John access, and all supplies for invasive species removal will be provided. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to reduce waste but plastic water bottles will be provided.

Registration closes on January 17 at 4:00 PM. If you need to register or cancel after this date/time, please email MUCC's Habitat Program and Partnerships Coordinator Olivia Triltsch at otriltsch@mucc.org so the lunch order can be updated.
