Sharp-tailed Grouse Habitat Enhancement in the Hiawatha National Forest (Chippewa County)

About the project: Join MUCC's On the Ground program in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the U.P. Resource Conservation and Development Council for a warm-season grass planting event in the Hiawatha National Forest. Volunteers are needed on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This project aims to re-establish specific grasses to enhance areas of this region to boost sharptail grouse populations.
Meeting location: Volunteers will meet at the Raco U.S. Forest Service Work Center on S. Ranger Rd and carpool to the project site.

What to bring: Closed-toe boots and long pants are recommended. This project will take place rain or shine except in the case of severe weather so please dress accordingly. A volunteer lunch and appreciation gift will be provided to all registered volunteers. A refillable water bottle is recommended, but we will have plastic water bottles available for volunteers. Any necessary equipment will be provided. Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm.
Registration for the event will close on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 4 P.M. If you need to register after the close date, email americorps@mucc.org so the lunch order can be updated.
