Tree Planting in Frederic

10/02/2021 09:00 AM - 02:00 PM ET

Description

Join MUCC's On the Ground program and the National Wild Turkey Federation on Saturday, October 2, as we improve wildlife habitat by planting mature mast-producing trees on public land near Frederic. Volunteers are needed to help plant, cover, and fence 100 mature mast-producing trees. These trees will provide foraging material and additional cover for wildlife like wild turkey, white-tailed deer, ruffed grouse and songbirds as they continue to mature.

Volunteer meeting and project location details will be provided in the near future and will be shared with all registered volunteers prior to the event. The approximate tree planting location will be north of Grayling off of the Frederic exit. We will go east on 612 and be planting within the openings on Camp Grayling leased lands. Exact coordinates to come.

The event will begin at 9 AM and run until all the trees are planted. After registration and introductions, we will begin planting the trees in selected locations throughout the project site. Shovels and all other equipment will be provided, although volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves. All registered volunteers will receive free lunch and an OTG volunteer appreciation gift.
