Wildflower Planting at Petersburg State Game Area
Description
Join MUCC's On the Ground program and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) as we return to the Petersburg State Game Area to enhance native pollinator habitat. Volunteers are needed to help plant the native wildflower blazing star within the Petersburg SGA, which is a host plant for the state imperiled blazing star borer moth and a plant species that benefits pollinators and many other wildlife species. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, although the event may end earlier depending on how quickly the project is completed.
We will meet at the parking area located at these coordinates 41°52'30.6"N 83°41'39.3"W, directly off of Teal Road. A free lunch will be provided to all registered volunteers and all participants will receive a volunteer appreciation gift.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves and shovels, if possible. MUCC and TNC will provide these materials if volunteers are unable to bring their own.
Please note that registration for this event closes at 11 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
